Music alert. Yes there’s music playing in this one but I just thought it was so nice to be able sit along a hiking path and enjoy the area. And apparently the music is more Chinese than Japanese.

This is Magome Juku, one of the 69 postal towns along the Edo era Nakasendo Trail which, along with the Tokaido, connects Tokyo (Edo) to Kyoto the former capital in the south.
Omg, I thought it was Magome when I saw the picture, but then was like "naah it wouldn't be exactly this corner that you hiked along" - now I am so happy to find confirmed it indeed is this beautiful, small town.
