Put your headphones on. Press play. Close your eyes.
You’ve been transported to a busy coffee shop.
Which one? Who’s with you? What are you drinking?
Use today’s sound as a meditation to remember happy moments: a coffee chat with your best friend, a brunch with your family… Remember the joy. Feel it again.
Ramblings
Earlier this year, I read a book called The Art of Making Memories: How to Create and Remember Happy Moments, by Meik Wiking. It’s a small book full of interesting facts about memory and happiness. Wiking gives you tips to remember happy times and “be in the moment” based on his research. You may note that taking pictures or keeping a journal helps you remember things more accurately.
A fact that I found especially interesting is that nostalgia actually contributes to our happiness. People who experience nostalgia tend to be happier, probably because remembering happy times triggers the same feeling of happiness in the present moment.
Here’s a quote that stuck with me: “We remember when we pay attention — and we pay attention when we are present, engaged, committed; when what we see and the process is meaningful to us.”
Be present. Engage. Find meaning.
Treasure happy times, and remember them often.
Make your own drink
Let’s make a golden milk latte today. It’s the ultimate fall comfort drink, plus it’s great to boost your immune system.
You’ll find the recipe on Kitchen Treaty. I like to replace the almond milk with Oatly’s barista blend — it’s a bit thicker than the usual plant-based milk.
Enjoy!
