My favorite background noise videos on YouTube are called “oldies playing while it’s raining.” This one will transport you back in time and, hopefully, boost your creativity.
Ramblings
This week, I’m trying a new productivity technique called The Burner List.
Here’s how it works: on a blank sheet of paper, trace a horizontal line in the middle to separate the sheet into two equal sides. On the right side, trace a vertical line to separate it into two equal parts as well. You now have three boxes: a big one and two smaller ones.
At the top of the bigger box, write down the Number 1 goal you want to achieve at the moment. At the top of the right box, write down your second most important goal. Finally, in the remaining box, write “Admin.”
In the first two boxes, add tasks you need to do this week in order to get closer to your goals. The “Admin” box will contain tasks that must be completed but don’t necessarily help you reach either of these goals.
Your Burner List will be your map for the week. This technique uses prioritization in order to force you to determine and focus on your two main goals. Hence, you will allocate more time to tasks that really matter and less to others.
Not enough space on the sheet?
For each task, ask yourself: Is this task mandatory? Does it serve my purpose? If the answer is no to both questions, forget it.
Remember: you have a limited amount of time. Use it to do what really matters.
It sounds complex and difficult to implement but trust me, it isn’t. It’s the simplest productivity tip I’ve ever tried.
I already knew that most of my time was wasted doing 1) mundane tasks; 2) social media; 3) trying to focus again after losing focus because I started scrolling my Twitter feed. Sigh.
Subconsciously, this technique forces me to face the truth and TAKE ACTION.
Tell me about you: Where does your time go? Are you finding it hard to get things done? Do you have any recommendations?
Make your own drink
Today’s drink is meant to boost your immune system — it’s a green tea with ginger. It’s simple: cut 1cm of peeled ginger into tiny pieces and let them infuse in hot water for at least 10 minutes. Add some green tea — and drink.
Green tea is a powerful antioxidant, and ginger is an excellent immune system booster. In addition, it works miracles to fight nausea and most colds, so you always want to have fresh ginger at home.
Enjoy! 🍵
