Hi friends! Today’s issue comes a bit late — apologies. I’m preparing for a huge screenwriting contest and the last couple of days have been hectic. Wish me luck!
If you’ve always dreamt of boarding the Orient Express and traveling on a luxury train through the Swiss Alps, this sound is for you.
It’s a bit different from what we usually curate, as this one is designed to calm anxiety and help you unplug after an intense workday.
Ramblings
Back when I was working in an office, I dreamt of working remotely, thinking that my anxiety and daily sources of stress (taking the subway, running late, etc.) would magically disappear.
You will probably agree with me on that: these “daily stresses” are replaced with others. For example, working from home can increase social anxiety and make it difficult to unplug.
Redefining your workspace and enforcing your boundaries are two effective ways to unplug, but I found that creating a bulletproof schedule, sticking to it, and completing a to-do list is the best way to end the day satisfied and ready to move on to something else.
What do you think?
Reading — “How to Make the Most of Your Workday” in The New York Times.
Watching — I May Destroy You by Michaela Coel on HBO. Coel is a genius screenwriter and this show is a masterpiece.
Make your own drink
The Mocha Cocoa is the perfect drink for cold days — the chocolate/coffee mix is underrated, although coffee stimulates your brain and chocolate is a good way to fight stress and feel happier.
You’ll find a lot of recipes online, some with cinnamon, most with sugar. My version doesn’t contain any of that — it’s just a personal preference:
Make an expresso, add your choice of steamed milk. Then you can whether add a teaspoon of cocoa powder or a piece of chocolate bar (the best!) that will melt in the concoction.
Drink warm!
